History
Sid-Mar's is located in historic Bucktown along Lake Pontchartrain and was started by Sidney and Marion Burgess in 1967 as a family style restaurant. Today, Sid's son Sidney Kent and Marion continue the tradition.

The building was built in 1948 after the great hurricane of 1947. Sid-Mar's moved to Bucktown in 1972.

Through many hurricanes and all the changes that the area has seen over the years, Sid-Mar's still serves the food New Orleans has always been noted for!

Sid-Mar's organized the famous Bucktown festival called the "Blessing of the Fleet." The festival was held on the 4th of July to bless the boats for the coming shrimp season. (This once- vibrant festival is no longer held.)
Sid-Mar's is noted as a hot-spot during Mardi Gras, Lent and the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival ... and has been a backdrop for many commercials and motion pictures.

Sid-Mar's was the place used in the remake of the TV movie "The Big Easy" ... and was featured on MTV twice during Mardi Gras. The NBC movie of the week "Sweet Justice" was shot at Sid-Mar's in 1995.
